The old ports of Lyme Regis and Poole have been host to generations of boat owners.
Inland, Dorset is rich in its historic old towns. Dorchester, the County Town, is in the heart of Thomas Hardy Country and Sherborne further to the north is home to one of England's finest abbeys. The County is home to many fine country houses, old castles and formal gardens. Its coastal paths are a walkers delight and almost every Dorset village offers a fine Inn and tearooms.
